Health trust told to improve over staff complaints

A BIRMINGHAM health trust has been told it must improve 'safe and effective care' for patients after complaints staff were 'not always kind and caring'.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated forensic inpatient wards and intensive recovery support teams at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust as 'requires improvement, following an inspection in February.

Inspectors visited Reaside Clinic in Rubery to follow up on improvements the watchdog had previously ordered the Trust to make.

The Bristol Road South facility provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to people with severe mental health problems across seven wards.

It supports people who have committed a criminal offence, or shown seriously aggressive or threatening behaviour.

Inspectors found some improvements at the clinic, which meant the service was no longer in breach of regulations related to governance and oversight.
