ALFIE May was inundated with text messages after Birmingham City clinched promotion to the Championship on April 8.

Friends and former team-mates of May wanted to congratulate the striker for achieving what has, in recent years at least, become an obsession.
May might have expected some Championship interest after a third successive 20-goal season in League One.
Huddersfield and Blues were his options and he backed the thoroughbred racehorse rather than the pony.
"I was nearly a Huddersfield player but the minute I actually spoke to the gaffer and the plan that he set out and said to me, it was something I just really wanted to be a part of," said May.
