Woman stole airport bus after driver knife threat

Shazma Ansar threatened driver Mark Lewis with a knife and demanded he take her to London.

He went to fetch the police but came back to find his bus had gone, Birmingham Crown Court was told.

Ansar, aged 29, was ultimately arrested in St Benedicts Road, Small Heath, having collided into a number of stationary cars and wedged the bus between them while trying to turn around.

Then, while in custody she spat at three different officers.

Ansar, previously from Shard End, suffered paranoid schizophrenia and had not been taking her medication at the time.

She admitted threatening someone with a knife, aggravated vehicle taking, three charges of assaulting an emergency worker as well as driving without a licence and insurance.

She was sentenced to a hospital order with restrictions under the Mental Health Act.
