Luiz played more than 200 games for the Claret and Blues over five impressive seasons before heading to Juventus and then spending the first six months of this season at Nottingham Forest.
However, he has started just five Premier League matches, amounting to just 318 minutes in total.
Reports says Villa have verbally agreed a deal to resign the 27-year-old midfielder on loan from Juventus. It would include an option to buy in the summer, just 18 months after he left to join the Serie A club.
Villa were forced to sell the Brazilian in the summer of 2024 as they tried to comply with financial regulations. He moved to Juventus for a reported 50 million euros but made little impact in his first season, making 27 appearances but only three Serie A starts amid uncertainty around his fitness.
