Strikes are keeping families indoors, park group claims

FAMILIES in parts of inner city Birmingham are staying indoors due to the problems caused by the bins strike, a park group has claimed.

The group teamed up with the National Trust to plant a dozen cherry blossom trees in the green space between Stoney Lane and Brunswick Road last year.
Friends Of Spark Green Park have created the blossom trail in Balsall Heath and other activities to encourage locals to get out and enjoy nature with the arrival of spring, but Sadia Khan says mounting rubbish piles, relentless fly-tipping and the fear of rodent infestations has means people are shunning the outdoors.
