Police child abuse work 'not up to standard'

REPORT FINDS FAILINGS IN KEY AREAS
WEST Midlands Police has been told its work to investigate child abuse is not good enough, as improvements were ordered in three key areas.
An inspection by His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services looked at the force’s performance in five areas of child protection.
It found the way it responded to children at risk of harm, investigating child abuse, neglect and exploitation, and its risk assessment and referral processes all "requires improvement".
The report published yesterday said working with partners was "good" and the leadership of child protection arrangements was "adequate".
