A KINDHEARTED boy from Worcester has crossed the finish line after walking over 31 miles and raising over £3,280 for Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity, as thanks for the lifesaving care he received for a brain tumour as a tot.
-

Eight-year-old Jack Philpotts took on Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity's Kids Summer Challenge to complete 31 miles during the month of August to raise funds to support the hospital. It's a special place for Jack, as he remains a patient following lifesaving surgery to remove a brain tumour when he was just 20-months-old.
Jack was born a happy and healthy baby but his mum, Emma, became concerned with his development. By the time Jack was a year old, he could sit unaided but showed no signs of being able to crawl or pull himself up onto furniture and over time, his ability began to deteriorate.
After Emma shared her worries with her health visitor, physios and nursery nurses, Jack was eventually referred to a paediatrician, who raised concern over the circumference of Jack's head and referred him to a local hospital for a CT scan.
Emma took Jack for his scan and was horrified and heartbroken when it showed a tumour growing within her son's brain.
