PROTESTORS SAY SOLAR FARM PLAN IS DANGEROUS THREAT TO HOMES

CAMPAIGNERS are trying to put the brakes on a proposed 271-acre solar farm, which would overshadow the UK’s current largest solar project.

Critics of RWE Renewables UK Solar & Storage Ltd's proposal for the sprawling solar farm, near Powick, Worcestershire, claim it will mar the natural scenery and be a fire hazard to local people.

The Preserve Powick Landscape and Nature (PPLAN) marched from Hospital Lane in Powick across swathes of the land earmarked for development.

The march saw residents come together, concerned that the proposed solar farm could spoil views of the Malvern Hills, damage local ecosystems, and introduce fire risks due to the energy-storing batteries.
