FIVE BREACHES OF REGULATIONS DISCOVERED

- ISABELLE BATES

WALSALL Manor Hospital has been labelled as 'requires improvement' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following an unannounced inspection.

Expired medication was found and some nurses were in breach of working time regulations by taking too many hours across different departments.

The unannounced inspection of critical care services were carried out on February 26 and 27 and March 3 this year after concerns were raised about the service.

CQC found five breaches of regulation at this inspection related to safe care and treatment, and governance processes at the hospital which is run by Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.

The trust has now been told to submit an action plan showing what action it is taking in response to these concerns.
