Group uses cherry picker to erect 'patriotic display'

ACTIVISTS have deployed cherry pickers to install more than 40 UK flags along a busy city road - a month after a council attempted to remove St George's crosses.

The determined group has adorned a half-mile section of West Boulevard in Quinton, Birmingham, with massive flags representing all four UK nations and the Republic of Ireland.
They have been secured to 22 lamp posts over recent weeks as part of a flag-flying initiative that has sparked debate nationwide.
Local campaigners, Weoley Warriors, took credit for the latest patriotic displays, which had been described as an ‘act of national pride’.
