WORLD'S SMALLEST THEATRE IN OLD VICTORIAN LOO IS BACK IN BUSINESS
THE world's smallest theatre - forced to shut after a fire - has welcomed Midland audiences once again following its rescue by dedicated volunteers.
The Theatre of Small Convenience was originally a Victorian toilet and can accommodate just 12 customers in front of its minuscule 1.5m, 4.9ft, stage.
It launched in Malvern, Worcestershire, in 1997, and received official recognition as the planet's smallest commercial theatre from Guinness World Records in 2002.
But the tiny venue measuring just 5.23m, 17ft, in length and 2.8m, 9.1ft, at its broadest section was forced to shut in 2018 after a fire.
Now, it has been revived after residents joined forces to return the theatre to its previous splendour. Friends Loz Samuels, Dibah Farooqui and Dr Jan Birtle took control before launching a two-year restoration.
The compact theatre celebrated a grand reopening featuring music and comedy for a capacity audience of 12.
