Evann on a mission to earn his wings with Villa

EVANN Guessand insists he is learning quickly under Villa manager Unai Emery but wants to create his own history in the Premier League after drawing comparisons to Ivorian legends of the era.

Guessand arrived from Nice in August in a deal worth up to £30 million, after scoring 13 goals across all competitions last season and providing ten assists.

He has started six of Villa's first ten matches of the season and, despite not yet finding the net, has shown encouraging signs of adapting to Emery’s demands as a right-winger in his system.

“My teammates have been kind to me when I arrived,’ said Guessand. “I spoke to the French guys and they explained to me how it works here.

“Now, everything is good and I am starting to understand how my teammates play. I am adapting my style of play to my teammates and I feel good.

“I am starting to know how to play in this team and understand how the coach wants me to play. I think through time it will get better, 100%.
