Elderly couple were 'easy targets' as drug addict attempted to snatch bag

A WOMAN who attacked an elderly couple in a violent bag-snatch attempt at an Asda store on New Year's Day has been jailed.

Melissa Elliker forced a woman off her feet at the supermarket in Solihull before knocking the victim's husband's glasses off and 'clawing' at his face.

The couple believed they were 'easy targets' for the 37-year-old drug addict who lied to intervening bystanders that the elderly woman was her mother who had her passport in her bag.

The brave victims managed to fight off Elliker, who fled empty-handed.

But they were left bloodied and shaken and cancelled going to a New Year's Day dance they were due to attend.
