Couple step up to help £12k appeal reach its target

A DONATION from the boss of a Midland pharmacy chain and his wife means work can start on a project which supports over 8,000 patients every year.

Anand Sodha, who is MD of Knights Pharmacy, and his wife Amy took on the Great Birmingham Run and raised £3k to support the Birmingham Women's Hospital Charity's appeal to refurbish the hospital's Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU).

The couple, who live in Redditch, were inspired by the care they received at the hospital when their daughter was born in 2023 and during two miscarriages the following year.

After taking on the run, they decided to up their donation to match the amount raised for the charity by other participants, taking the total donation to £6k.

Anand said: "We are so grateful to all the midwives, nurses and doctors at Birmingham Women's Hospital for helping us through some of both the most joyful and difficult times in our lives, and this includes the support we received at the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit.
