COUNCIL ACCUSED OF TALKING RUBBISH OVER CITY WASTE COLLECTIONS

PILES of rotting rubbish are still piling up in Birmingham, despite city council claims that collections are back to normal.

Striking refuse staff have vowed to carry on industrial action indefinitely unless their demands are met, with some believing it may last until Christmas.

Birmingham City Council says it has cleared every large pile of waste from hotspot areas and some 85% of the rubbish across the rest of the city.

Despite the council's claims, these grim images taken in Bordesley Green show split rubbish bags and fly-tipped waste strewn across residential streets.

One image shows how residents have struggled to even park their cars amid dumped beds, mattresses, shop mannequins and even an industrial-sized freezer.
