Title completed after nervy ending

Head of Rugby Johann van Graan said that Bath Rugby winning the Gallagher Premiership title for the first time in 29 years was “one of the best experiences” he has had after defeating Leicester Tigers 23-21 at the Allianz Stadium at Twickenham.
In what was by no means a classic final, it had an ending full of drama, with Leicester needing just two points in the final four minutes to cause a shock and take the Premiership title away from Bath.
However, an inexcusable box-kick from Ben Young went unchallenged, allowing the Blue, Black and White to run out the remaining 50 seconds on the clock and hold on to seal their third piece of silverware of the 2024/25 season, adding to their Premiership Cup and EPCR Challenge Cup trophies with the Gallagher Premiership title.
Bath’s first phase of the second half was the difference maker in the game, turning the screw just enough to give themselves a points cushion that the Tigers could not overhaul.
Tries for Thomas du Toit and Max Ojomoh, along with 13 points off the boot of Finn Russell with two conversions and three penalty kicks, were enough to make sure they converted their top-of-the-table status into a Premiership title.
Leicester threw the kitchen sink with their performance, and their dominance in the final 15 minutes of play resulted in the grandstand finish that a final deserves.
