Thailand are targeting a place in the quarterfinals as they take on Australia in the opening Group D match of the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026 in Saudi Arabia today.
Thai head coach Thawatchai Damrong-ongtrakul speaks to the press.
"Qualifying for the quarterfinals is our goal in this tournament and we will need good results against our group opponents — Australia, Iraq and China,” said head coach Thawatchai Damrong-ongtrakul during a pre-match press conference in Riyadh yesterday.
“Many players have been with the team for many months since the Asian qualifiers, the Fifa day, the SEA Games and this championship so everyone has adjusted well to the tactics while new players have also shown great potential."
