Supat faces dismissal over ATK role

Move not politically motivated: minister

Public Health Minister Pattana Promphat has confirmed that a civil service subcommittee voted 4-3 to dismiss Dr Supat Hasuwannakit from government service over his role in the procurement of Covid-19 rapid antigen test kits (ATKs).

Mr Pattana stressed, however, that the decision has not yet been formally signed and is not politically motivated.

The confirmation followed reports that the ministry's civil service subcommittee had resolved to dismiss Dr Supat in connection with the controversial ATK procurement during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dr Supat had earlier suggested that if the reports were true, the decision was likely linked to political factors.
