Senate, land grab cases to proceed

Newly appointed Justice Minister Pol Lt Gen Rutthapon Naowarat has vowed that the high-profile investigations into the Khao Kradong land dispute and alleged Senate election collusion will move forward strictly according to the law, without any political interference.
Pol Lt Gen Rutthapon, who is seen as being close to Buri Ram's influential political clan, faces particular attention as the Khao Kradong land dispute involves the Chidchob family.
He said yesterday that he was unfazed by the heightened public scrutiny.
Newin Chidchob, who is widely respected by the ruling Bhumjaithai Party (BJT), in particular, is believed to be the real power behind the throne at the party.
