Key jab not covered by state health plan
Paediatricians have urged the National Health Security Office (NHSO) to explain why the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) has not been included in the universal healthcare scheme.
The decision leaves more than 400,000 newborns nationwide without protection each year, they warned.
Representatives from the Royal College of Paediatricians of Thailand, the Paediatric Infectious Disease Society of Thailand (PIDST), the Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health (QSNICH) and the National Vaccine Institute met Public Health Minister Pattana Promphat yesterday to press for urgent action. They welcomed the minister's public stance supporting a child's right to protection against preventable diseases.
