Legal eagle swoops to gain cabinet post

Prominent legal scholar Borwornsak Uwanno is set to join the Bhumjaithai-led government as deputy prime minister overseeing legal affairs, with the cabinet lineup also likely to be finalised soon.
Mr Borwornsak, former chairman of the 2015 constitution drafting committee, confirmed yesterday he had accepted the offer, citing Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's intention to bring in respected outsiders.
A public law expert with decades of experience in academic and government service, Mr Borwornsak has served in several posts, including former dean of Chulalongkorn University's law faculty, former secretary-general to the cabinet, and former member of the 1996 constitution drafting assembly. He is also a former member of the 2006 National Legislative Assembly.
