FTI seeks support for plastics, petrochemicals

The Anutin Charnvirakul government must speed up efforts to help the plastic and petrochemical industries deal with the impact of US tariffs, as well as seek business opportunities from green product development, says the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).
Both industries want to see new measures to help them manage economic uncertainties, notably Washington's new trade policy and the trade war, as well as benefit from a trend towards environmental protection, said Thitithum Pongpanangarm, chairman of the FTI's Plastic Industry Club.
"Stronger state actions are needed as Thailand aims to be a key producer of green plastics under the bio-, circular and green [BCG] economic model," he told a forum held yesterday by the Economic Reporters Association.
