Flooding rampant but relief 'due in 10 days'

Nearly 400k affected as rainfall continues

Flooding remains in 15 provinces, affecting more than 116,000 households and having already claimed at least 10 lives.

But authorities expect relief in 10 days if rainfall eases, according to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM).

The DDPM reported yesterday morning that floodwaters are still inundating parts of Phitsanulok, Sukhothai, Phichit, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Suphan Buri, Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, and Chachoengsao provinces — covering 76 districts, 505 tambons and 2,956 villages.

In total, 116,318 households, or 388,566 people, have been affected. Ten deaths were reported: one each in Phitsanulok and Phichit, and eight in Ayutthaya.
