Electronics boost cross-border exports

Cross-border trade to third countries rose for the first time in three months in October, driven by demand for electronic goods, according to the Department of Foreign Trade (DFT).

Arada Fuangtong, director-general of the DFT, said cross-border trade to third countries tallied 81.3 billion baht in October, up 32.2% year-on-year. Exports rose by 36.1% to 38.8 billion baht, while imports gained 28.8% to 42.5 billion baht.

She said the trade was driven by export increases of 26.6% to China, 80.7% to Singapore, and 29.2% to Vietnam.

Ms Arada attributed the trade growth to strong global demand for electronics goods, as well as the expansion of Thailand’s electronics and data centre sectors.
