EC confident about polling day

The Election Commission (EC) is confident the upcoming general election and referendum will proceed smoothly following a full-scale simulation exercise, stressing that voters will be required to verify their identity twice to ensure accuracy and prevent confusion.

The Election Commission conducts a simulation for election officials to prepare them for the upcoming general election and referendum, at Impact Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi.

Phasakorn Siripakhayaporn, deputy secretary-general of the EC, said yesterday that the commission had organised training sessions for election personnel, who will in turn train polling station officials in all 400 constituencies nationwide.

He said this would be the first time election staff handle a general election and a referendum simultaneously within a single voting process, making preparation and coordination especially important.
