Clashes escalate along frontier

Clashes along the Thai-Cambodian border entered their third day yesterday, with several areas continuing to see exchanges of fire.
Cambodian rockets, suicide drones and artillery shells hit three northeastern Thai provinces yesterday, the 2nd Army Region reported.
The Thai armed forces have reaffirmed that Cambodian troops initiated the confrontation, stating that Thailand was compelled to retaliate in order to protect its citizens and national sovereignty.
Cambodian rockets were fired from BM-21 multiple rocket launchers, beginning about 4.50am yesterday.
In Surin, rockets hit the Ta Khwai and Ta Muen areas in Phanom Dong Rak district and the Chong Plot Tang and Chong Rayi areas in Kap Choeng district.
In Si Sa Ket, rockets struck the Phra Wihan, Phu Makua, Sam Tae, Phu Phi and Chong Ta Thao areas in Kantharalak district.
