Mixed doubles pair Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran started off the new season with a two-game win in the US$1,450,000 (approx 46,400,000 baht) season-opening BWF Malaysia Open 2026 in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Men's singles hope Kunlavut Vitidsarn also prevailed in his opening match at the season-opening World Tour Super 1000 event at Axiata Arena, KL Sports City, in Bukit Jalil.

Dechapol and Supissara, who were named Mixed Doubles Pair of the Year at the BWF World Tour Finals in Hangzhou in December, began their title defence in style with a 21-16, 21-18 win over Ye Hong Wei and Nicole Gonzales Chan of Taiwan.
