January 07, 2026

The Election Commission (EC) office in Buri Ram said it is ready to postpone the polls to elect members of subdistrict administrative organisations (SAOs) scheduled for Jan 11 if further unrest breaks out along the Thai-Cambodian border.

- POST REPORTERS

Surapong Thip-osot, director of the EC, Buri Ram office, said news of a Thai soldier being injured by mortar fire from the Cambodian side of the border yesterday morning in Ubon Ratchathani may affect the upcoming elections for 133 SAOs, scheduled simultaneously nationwide on Jan 11.

Buri Ram has polling stations in nine border sub-districts affected by the unrest.
