Body of missing Thai soldier located

The body of one of two Thai soldiers who went missing in recent clashes along the Thai-Cambodian border has been located, but troops have so far been unable to retrieve it amid fears of a possible ambush.
A border security source said yesterday that the body of Pvt Phanuphat Saosa, from Phu Sing district in Si Sa Ket, was found in the combat zone around Hill 350 in Surin province. Cambodian forces reportedly seized his weapon and placed his body in a visible location within the contested area.
Thai troops have not attempted to recover it, however, due to concerns that the body may be booby-trapped or bait for an ambush.
The whereabouts of the second soldier, Sgt Maj 1st Class Samroeng Khlangprakhon of Prakhon Chai district in Buri Ram, have yet to be determined. Search operations are continuing under heightened caution.
