Banpu acquires battery farm in US

Energy conglomerate Banpu Plc has announced a major step into the US battery energy storage market with the acquisition of the Megamouth Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Texas, marking its latest move to grow its global battery farm portfolio.
The deal, valued at US$4 million (1.24 billion baht), was executed through Banpu Power US Corporation (BPPUS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Banpu Power Plc. BPPUS signed a membership interest purchase agreement with Grid Connected Infrastructure LLC, securing full ownership of GCI Megamouth LLC, the operator of the project.
The Texas facility will have an installed capacity of 100 megawatts and an energy storage capacity of 200 megawatt-hours.
