Tariff negotiations with the US are ongoing, but the government remains hopeful for a positive outcome, says Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat.

Mr Julapun said yesterday tariff negotiations with Washington could not be concluded in a single round of talks.

Thailand recently engaged in discussions with the US in preparation for negotiations with the US Trade Representative (USTR).

"We are not viewing the tariff negotiations with the US as a worst-case scenario, as we have been preparing for them since President Donald Trump took office and then announced the reciprocal tariff policy on April 2," he said.

"We are aware of the US's demands, such as the need to address issues related to transshipment and goods falsely claimed as originating from Thailand for export to the US."
