Agency to set rules for social commerce

The Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) is expected to implement two new measures this year as part of its role in regulating digital platform services.
Both announcements are still being drafted, with one concerning the sale or advertising of goods on social commerce platforms that have specific characteristics.
The other refers to measures to prevent technological crimes and fraud using social media providers, which is expected to be issued by April.
Chaichana Mitrpant, executive director of ETDA, said the two measures place stricter rules on social media platforms with specific characteristics that have yet to register under the Digital Platform Services (DPS) Act.
