Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma says he chose the chawls and streets of Mumbai over exotic foreign locales for Rangeela because he wanted the film to mirror the lives of ordinary people who dream big.
The 1995 blockbuster, starring Urmila Matondkar, Aamir Khan and Jackie Shroff, turned 30 on September 8 and is set for a 4K re-release in theatres.
