Mumbai police probe shooting at filmmaker's residence, attempt to murder case registered

Unidentified assailants opened fire outside the Mumbai residence of filmmaker Rohit Shetty in the early hours of Sunday, prompting police to register a case of attempt to murder and launch a multi-agency probe.

The firing took place around 12.45 am at Shetty's nine-storey residential building in the Juhu area, police officials said. At least five rounds were fired at the first floor of the building, with one bullet striking the glass façade of a gym located on the premises. No injuries were reported.

It was not immediately clear whether Shetty was at home at the time of the incident. Security outside the building was stepped up following the firing.
