The New Year's Eve in Ahmedabad began with residents struggling to breathe. as the AQI crossed 490 in the morning itself. At 8:04 am, the city's overall AQI (Air Quality Index) stood at 425, in the hazardous category. The southwest side was worst affected.
Vikram Nagar recorded the highest AQI at 493, followed by Jai Ambe Nagar at 473, Narolgam at 463 and Aehsan Park at 429.
