HAWKS SWOOP FOR SHAUN!

WHITEHAWK manager Shaun Saunders reiterated his pride as ‘a local boy’ following his side’s promotion after Charlie Harris’ first-half strike helped secure victory over Hythe Town.

Harris’ long-range drive two minutes before halftime secured the Hawks’ promotion to the Isthmian Premier Division in front of a crowd of over 1,400 at an atmospheric Enclosed Ground.

And boss Saunders was quick to praise the hard work of his players, saying: “I’m so proud of them tonight, we worked so hard to get here, myself, the team around me, and the players.

“Their application tonight was spot on. We stuck to it and I thought we were fantastic. The lads have been superb.

“Because I’m a local boy, this means more to me than anything I’ve ever achieved.”
