DEFOE IN TALKS TO BUY A CLUB

JERMAIN DEFOE has exclusively revealed he is in talks to buy a Non-League club, as the former England striker spoke of his love of grassroots football and how ‘special’ he finds the pyramid.
The 41-year-old, who hung up his boots in March 2022 after a second spell at Sunderland, has since worked as an academy coach with the Under-18s at old club Tottenham but it can now be revealed he has a project in the works lower down the football pyramid at an unnamed team in the London area.
“I’m actually in talks at the moment with a club and it’s been going on for about a year,” Defoe told The NLP while making an appearance as an ambassador for McDonald’s Fun Football in Manchester last weekend. “It’s something I have always thought about. I still have that love of the game and want to be involved in it.
