ANDY HITS HIS PEAK AT LAMBS

TAMWORTH boss Andy Peaks reckons this season’s epic Southern Premier Central title race should have come with a health warning – despite it leaving a spring in his step.

The Lambs secured the crown and promotion back to National North on goal difference with a 3-0 win at Redditch United on the final day.

The former Conference club had started that climactic clash level on points with Coalville Town and ahead by two on goal difference.

Tamworth had held a nine-point lead after the last weekend in March but a 2-0 defeat at St Ives Town on April 8 saw the long-time leaders sink to third, six points behind a Coalville side that had churned out 16 wins in 19 matches.

Many thought it was all over bar the shouting but Peaks and more importantly his players – kept the faith and finishing with four wins in a row, alongside an ill-timed Coalville blip, saw the silverware head to The Lamb.
