NOW that administration has brought hope to Wednesday-ites that new owners are on the way to end the gloom, I can't help but wonder how I got into this.

It was 1954 when I first saw a Wednesday match. I was seven years old. At school we had divided ourselves up into Wednesday or United, going along with our dads or brothers, a family thing.

My family was split. Uncle Bill and Uncle Harry were United but their sister, Aunty Bec, was Wednesday. My dad wasn't bothered either way.

It might have been my school-friend Frank who first persuaded me to the Wednesday but then Aunty Bec and Uncle Albert started to take me to home games.
