Keeping pace with the rapidly evolving technologies through close ties with industry veterans and alumni, the Department of Computer Science at Christ is ensuring its students are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities that await them
The Department of Computer Science at Christ remains at the forefront of the rapidly evolving tech landscape by fostering strong connections with the industry. Dr Ashok Immanuel V., head of department, stresses the importance of immersing first-semester BCA students in programming from the outset, given the application-oriented nature of the course. "By the second semester," he adds, "students delve into web development, thus securing internships within their first year itself." The second year introduces mobile computing, which means that students get exposure to execute projects quite early on. The department has strategically revised its curriculum to emphasise practical applications, with faculty members guiding the undergraduate students on the potential for publishing projects as research papers. Looking ahead, the department plans to advance project work by a semester and rope in alumni for consultations to fine-tune the ideas before implementation. This will ensure the students gain both practical exposure and research opportunities.
WHAT SETS IT APART Christ has an NAAC grade of A+ , with a CGPA of 3.4/4
