India's tryst with home-brewed notable spirits dates back only a couple of decades ago. Grains were different, the proximity to the equator made it difficult to follow anything recorded by the tenantries of the whisky world; it was highly price sensitive, and the white supremacy of international labels made the domestic market doubt its own produce. All that changed by the turn of 2010, when Indian whiskies challenged the high and mighty in blind tastings and competitions, judged by international palates.
