-
OVER NEARLY 700 PAGES, new book 75 Years of Atlantic Records chronicles the history of the legendary label, one that also shows the path of popular music across the globe over that time. From being at the vanguard of American jazz to releasing some of the biggest pop and rock albums of the 70s and 80s and now providing a home for Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Charli XCX and more of today's biggest global stars, theirs is a story of consistent excellence. Journey with us through the history of Atlantic Records.
FOUNDERS AHMET ERTEGUN AND HERB ABRAMSON, 1947 Ertegun and Abrahamson formed Atlantic with a $100 loan from Ertegun's dentist, Vahdi Sabit. Both fans of jazz, the pair made a splash in the 1950s as a reputable independent label releasing forward-thinking jazz, soul and R&B records.
