Rachel McConachie enjoys the Michelin Guide restaurant setting the standard for seafood in Leith
LEITH'S waterfront has no shortage of dining spots, but Barry Fish has quickly distinguished itself as one of the best. Opening last year, the restaurant earned a place in the Michelin Guide by October, an impressive feat that becomes entirely understandable once you've stepped inside. Small, warm and welcoming, it’s a space that balances simplicity with quiet elegance: soft lighting, classy minimal décor, cool music and a relaxed, uncluttered vibe.
On a Tuesday evening the place was buzzing, with at least 25 covers filled by 7.30pm. Clearly, word has travelled fast.
The restaurant's charm lies not only in its food, but in its intimacy. There's a see-through pass into the compact kitchen, where three chefs work with a calm precision.
