NICK RUDAZ

|August 2024
The CEO of Franck Muller on his personal style, his horological heroes and advice on appreciating the gift of time.

NICK RUDAZ MAY helm one of contemporary horology's most exuberant independent watch brands, but don't expect him to party in a manner evoked by Franck Muller's theatrica timepieces. "My favourite cocktail is a sparkling minera water with ice and lemon," he says. "I wish they would have a name for this drink; it would make ordering so much easier."
Known for watches loaded with dramatic technica complications, clad in bold colours and unusual materials Franck Muller epitomises the modern-day luxury watch brand. Rudaz, who joined the company in 2007 as its chief operating officer and took the reins as its CEO in 2021, has been dutifully spreading the gospel of innovative, high-octane horology.
While not averse to turning up to launches and parties in loud suits emblazoned with art deco numerals synonymous with Franck Muller's designs, or engaging clients till the wee hours, Rudaz often cuts a genteel and sanguine figure. The clear-headed calmness is perhaps what is needed to articulate the intricate complexities of a Franck Muller watch. And it a challenge that Rudaz knows all too well, having overseen the introduction of some of the company's most complicated creations-such as Aeternitas Mega 4, the world's most complicated wristwatch—in his time with the brand.
