According to a Swedish study, after one night of no sleep, participants were more likely to interpret an angry face as less trustworthy than rested folks were. They also rated neutral and fearful faces as less attractive. This is because people spent less time analyzing facial expressions after a sleepless night, which could lead them to misinterpret the faces or overreact to them.

Unfortunately, when we do this, it can lead us to withdraw socially. So next time you're feeling sensitive in this way, it's probably time for a nap.
