WHEN IN GENEVA....
As the curtain closed on Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024, it left an indelible mark on the watchmaking industry, setting new benchmarks and igniting a collective passion for horology. With over 49,000 enthusiasts, retailers, and journalists in attendance-a remarkable 14 per cent increase from the previous year-the event epitomised the spirit of unity and excellence that defines the watchmaking world.
This year's edition witnessed an unprecedented engagement from the public, with a diverse array of activities, including product presentations, guided tours, and workshops, drawing eager participants. Social media platforms buzzed with excitement, propelled by celebrity sightings and the event's dedicated hashtag, #watchesandwonders2024, reaching an astounding 600 million people. Notably, the event attracted a growing number of young enthusiasts. 25% of the week's 19,000 attendees fell under the age of 25, underscoring its relevance across generations.
From the resurgence of classic designs to the bold exploration of colours and materials, Watches and Wonders Geneva set the stage for the year's watchmaking trends. Grand complications dazzled alongside intricate métiers d'art, showcasing the industry's unwavering commitment to pushing boundaries. Beyond the exhibition halls, the city of Geneva embraced the festivities, transforming into a vibrant hub of celebration. The night sky was illuminated with the glow of boutiques, echoing the rhythmic beats of the Lost Frequencies concert-a fitting conclusion to an unforgettable gathering.
