The mathematical operation known as “twice” is the product of a number being multiplied by two; which is also equivalent to the sum of a base value added to itself. Because it is equivalent to two times the value of the number that is being given, it is sometimes referred to as “double”.

For example, it is common knowledge that 2 + 2 = 4. But what if it were not always true that the sum of a number with itself would equal exactly double its base value?
