Don't rub people up the wrong way

I BLAME Gunther, the large, German masseur who brought an end to the idea of a couples massage in my married life. This was not an enormous hardship, of course, and I cannot claim either my life, or my marriage, has been significantly worse off for the absence of a side-by-side rub down, but it has taken a while to lay Gunther's ghost to rest.

- Pamela Goodman

Don't rub people up the wrong way

It may be a gross generalisation to say that when it comes to massage—I mean spa, not sports or remedial massages—men tend to fall into two categories: those who love a bit of hands-on pampering and those who absolutely don’t. Would it be wrong, too, to suggest—I tread carefully here—that, for many men, in these circumstances, a masseuse is always preferable to a masseur?
