CREATING SAFE SPACES FOR THOSE WITH intellectual disabilities

We followed up with Down Syndrome South Africa (DSSA) to find out how their Club Cares donation will help them make a positive impact

When Club member Mr RK Titus nominated DSSA as a Club Cares recipient, we discovered just how special this organisation is. After helping improve the quality of life of all persons with Down Syndrome and other intellectual disabilities for over 30 years, DSSA National Executive Director Ancella Ramjas and her team show no sign of slowing down.

“DSSA promotes the idea that people with Down Syndrome have the right to live with independence, dignity and security as valued adults and full citizens in our society,” she explains. “We advocate at national, regional and international levels on the rights of persons with Down Syndrome and other intellectual disabilities, and encourage the development of support groups, programmes and services that could support them.”
