A HAVEN OF CURATION
August Man SG
|Issue 221 (January 2026)
Pop City, Jigger & Pony Group's latest flourish, unites Japanese craft, sound, and cocktails in deliberate harmony.
IN THE THROBBING HEART of the Central Business District, a shadow-laced stairway draws the eye upward. Step by step, the city begins to loosen its grip as traffic thins, light softens, and sound recalibrates. On the second level, Pop City reveals itself not as a spectacle, but as a destination reached. This is not a bar that announces itself loudly; it invites discovery. Everything here has been considered: what you see, what you hear, what you taste, and how you feel. Up here, the city fades, and something more considered takes its place.
Welcome to this living room of intention. Welcome home.
FOR THE LOVE OF JAPANAt its core, Pop City is an act of devotion, a shrine to Japan not as caricature or aesthetic, but as a philosophy of living well. Japanese craft forms the connective tissue of the space, from the ingredients in the glass to the textures that line the walls. Bar programme director Aki Eguchi describes this as a bridge rather than a theme. Japanese ingredients—yuzu, hojicha, dashi—are familiar to Singaporean palates, yet when placed in new contexts, they quietly reframe the experience. They speak of place without insisting on it.
